94 Year Old Indiana Man Dies In Tree Stand

Indiana Conversation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that occurred on Tuesday in Scott County, Indiana.

According to DNR, Donald Cass, 94, of Scotsburg, Indiana was deer hunting when he fell from a tree stand. The tree stand was a homemade elevated stand and Cass was not wearing a safety harness.

Conservation Officers are reminding hunters using elevated platforms to always wear a full body harness, use a tree stand’s safety rope, never try to put up or remove a tree stand by themself and to always inspect their tree stand before climbing up into it.

In 2021, there was 1,704 tree stand injuries that sent hunters to the emergency room.
