Missouri reports nearly 300,000 deer harvested in 2022-2023 season
The Missouri Department of Conservation has reported that 299,721 deer have been harvested during the 2022-2023 hunting season, which ended on January 15th.
Of the total deer harvested, antlered deer accounted for 140,736 while button bucks were 27,029. The total number of does (female deer) harvested were 131,956.
The Missouri Department of Conservation requires check in for each deer harvested, recording the county where harvested. The top counties for harvested deer in 2022-2023 were Franklin County with 6,471 deer harvested and Callaway with 5,438.
The total deer harvest is up from the 2021 season where only 295,143 deer were taken. You can see the full state by state deer harvest log here.

Unfortunately, the Missouri Department of Conservation also reports firearm related and hunting injuries. MDC reported two firearm related injuries during the season both being non fatal and both being self inflicted.
